Hello, and welcome to the podcast for the week of August 1st. I'm your host and guide Sheila. in the Northern hemisphere. It is Lammas time. The time of the first cut for the harvest and in some traditions, it's the very beginning of autumn. Now, those of you in the Northern hemisphere, I'm not trying to rush your summer too soon, but do you feel it? You noticed any little shift in the weather, little bit cooler, many of us are having heat waves right now, but nonetheless, the earth is telling you a subtle shift is happening. And the power of Lammas in the earth tradition is you now turn towards the harvest. You start to make the cuts that need to happen. You've been growing and developing, and now it's time slowly to make that turn and cut and harvest. So it means you have to make the call.
And it's so parallel to the power of the archetypal energies. This week, we start out with a theme from the poem for this week: "We each have a friend older than birth." And this is a week where we are in a really powerful archetypal conversation with the yin and the yang, with the active and magnetic with Venus and Mars. And it is about making the call clarifying what's really important to you. Where do you really belong? And to cut, to begin to cut that, which is no longer giving life, no longer worth spending your precious life energy on. And that's parallel with our world. We're in such a time where we have to make the call. We are spending our collective life force and our people in areas we have no business doing so much harm, suffering so much pain because we're going after something or we're valuing something that isn't important.
And we're devaluing something. People, the earth that's beyond price. So we need to check in with that friend who's older than birth. And that friend is very balanced with yin and yang.
We start Monday, August 1st with the planet, Mars conjunct Uranus conjunct the north node at 18 degrees of Taurus. I mentioned a little bit of this in last week's podcast. The nodes are mathematical points that astrologers use to honor the journey of past and future. The nodes are mathematical points, not planets, and yet they move symbolically through the Zodiac wheel. Mathematically the south node honors where we've come from, our autopilot patterns, our survival strategies. And they're good, cuz they've kept us alive, but they're boxes. They're like ruts. The north node by contrast, the opposite point in the Zodiac wheel is our evolutionary place. Our cutting edge, Ooh, I'm being called to grow.
My soul's calling me. It's a bit of a destiny feeling. And right now the south node is in Scorpio and the north node is in Tuarus. Again, I mentioned this last week, but essentially Scorpio is a very potent intense, emotionally, strong sign. And it's a beautiful sign. And yet it's ruthless with it's challenges. We get attached to drama, we get resentful, we chew on something and we won't let go of it. And we can be emotionally violent to ourselves and others without realizing it. Now the north note is in Taurus. The balance point to Scorpio. Taurus is a grounded earth sign and it says to Scorpio, whoa, I know you feel deeply and that's important, but you're making some Kamekazi moves here. You're in self-destruct or you're so caught in chewing and punishing yourself or being resentful from the past, that you're actually sabotaging your life.
Cuz Taurus is a very grounded, practical sign that says, get in your body, recognize and be grateful for what you have and pace yourself. So you spend your life well. So Mars, the warrior warrioresss advocate, the active yang energy in all of us on an archetypal level, going after which you want your desire. Also, the one in you who gets and angry and reactive it's right next to Uranus the Maverick, the change agent, the rebel, the Renegade who says change it up, get free, blow up the status quo, liberate yourself. Now Mars and Uranus of all the archetypes that astrologers work with are the most impulsive . And so you put 'em together and we have potentially a really challenging energy field on a personal level and a collective level. We can get off and be reactive and make sudden unexpected, blow it up moves.
Now they're with the north node. So part of that is our destiny is calling us to make some rebellious moves right from a Taurus place, not from your wounded reactivity, not from your fear that's driving you to do harm to yourself and others, but from a reality check of, okay, this old pattern, this old identity it's done, it's draining my life energy. I'm done pouring salt in the wound. I'm done being obsessed with something I can't change. I need to get on with my life in a radical new way. And I need to have the courage, Mars, to do it. So pay attention to what's stirring for you last week, this week, where you are really feeling your destiny saying, make the call, get real, live your life in a sustainable way and stop holding on to something that gives you no joy and does not support the world. Let it go and move on free yourself, free others, you know, so pay attention to where that's there.
Then Venus comes in Tuesday, August 2nd. Venus is what's called sextile Mars and Uranus. That means there's a very harmonious 60 degree angle between Venus and Mars and Uranus. Venus is in cancer. This is a 18 degrees of cancer and Taurus, Venus in cancer, Mars and Uranus in Taurus. So what does this mean? Venus, The relational one, the lover, the one that is about our values and our desire to be connected deeply. in deeply magnetic, Oh, I draw to me what I love. I draw myself to what I love. She's in cancer right now, which is a water sign of deep sensitivity and vulnerability. cancer is a sign in us and energy that we wear our love in our hearts. We wear our hearts on our sleeve, so to speak and Venus in cancer says the lover in you, the relational one in you is very tender hearted right now and sentimental in the best way.
Sometimes in a clingy way. That's one of the wounded sides of cancer, but in just a really sensitive way. So Venus sextile Mars and Uranus helps to soften the hardness of the rebel and the warrior-warrioress. Or advocate if I don't wanna genderize the archetype. And so it says, yeah, you're ready to make a move. Yeah. You know, you wanna blow up the old, you wanna break free of the old status quo, the self limitation you gotta rebel, Venus says do it from the heart, have compassion for yourself. And others listen to your heart and let your heart guide you as to what radical changes you need to make. Again, not from an, a desensitized freaked out fear-based rebel, but from the heart saying, this is what I love. This is how I love. I wanna magnetize my life. I wanna go forward with what I love. That's where I wanna put my life energy and I'll make radical changes to follow my heart. That's in a nutshell, what that energy's supporting us to do.
And then on Friday, August 5th, we have this really interesting conglomeration of characters where the moon is activating it. And I rarely talk to you about moon cycles except for the new moon and the full moon, because the moon moves so quickly through the Zodiac wheel that you have a quick little moon cycle and then it moves on. However, I'm making an exception cuz this Friday, August 5th has a lot of energy going on. First of all, the moon is in Scorpio. Now Scorpio remember is a very deep water sign of intensity and passion and wants deep change, wants things to be real it once get to the heart of the matter. And when the moon is there, moon stays in one sign for two and a half days.
It's like, you're ready for emotional change. You're really ready to get down to it. And what happens on Friday is the moon steadily connects with several big archetypal players. So the whole day becomes a kind of powder keg of like, let's get on with it. You know, and emotionally I am ready to just completely blow. If I don't make a transformation. We call it a fixed cross energy, meaning there that there were four signs in the Zodiac that are 90 degrees away from each other. They're making a cross pattern and the moon is setting them all off. So the moon on Friday in Scorpio, in this intense emotional transformation, the instinctive nurturer archetype says, what do you really feel? What really nurtures you? I wanna get real. Okay. She activates the sun in Leo. It's called a square. It's the first quarter square.
The sun is your Hero Heroine conscious self. And Leo, I wanna shine my gifts. I wanna be optimistic. I wanna be creative. And the moon says, that's fine, but you better be real doing it. Don't play games. Don't play to the audience. Don't be a People Pleaser, shine your gifts in a real way. The moon also squares Saturn in Aquarius, Saturn, you've heard me talk about Saturn, the structure maker, the grounded one, the responsible one. It's in the sign of Aquarius right now, which has to do with community and innovation and collective. How do we all make it work together? And Saturn in Aquarius particularly has a strong call to make manifest justice fairness. It's good for everybody. Okay. And it has this beat of like, wait, okay. Now is this working for everybody? And if not, we gotta do something about it. So that day, Friday, the moon in Scorpio, intense emotional transformation, squaring, Saturn looking for fairness and collective wholeness says great.
You wanna make big changes? How's it impacting everyone else? Is this just for yourself, Leo? Is it just all about you or you actually making some important changes that make a difference in your people's life, your family's life, your neighbor's life, your community's life, your world's life. Okay. So it's like get real moon and Scorpio and take action. Be the leader, Saturn, to make some changes.
And then finally the moon in Scorpio is opposite Mars and Uranus. What I started talking about at the beginning of this podcast. So then here is this advocate warrior warriors with the, the change agent, the Maverick saying, come on, we gotta do this. Let's make it happen. Okay. We gotta embody big changes about where our security is and how we feel grounded, where we belong to our lives (Taurus), the moon and Scorpio says, yep. I know you wanna take action. I know you're ready to blow and really rebel get real emotionally. What's the price you're gonna pay for the changes you wanna make. And can you make those changes in an emotionally real way? Or are you just in reactivity? Are you just losing it and reactive and blowing your stuff? No. Make the changes for real emotionally, get real with yourself and do it. So just say, and just notice at the end of the week, if you're like holy Batman bat, woman, bat person, Sheila, it is intense in here. Yeah, it is. Okay.
However, the universe in its natural journey of cycles and Tao flows says, but wait, there's more. I'm gonna give you a double on Sunday, August 7th, we have Venus trine Neptune at 25 degrees of cancer Pisces. back to Venus, the magnetic yin the lover, the relational one in this sensitive heartful, relational, emotional connection of cancer in a harmonious relationship with Neptune, the dreamer, the visionary, the seer in Pisces, the deeply compassionate one, the deeply empathetic one.
This Venus trine Neptune harmonious relation is like an incredible time of letting your heart dream you forward. What's my greatest aspiration in my relationships. What if our family life could be harmoniously and loving? What if my core relationships would be with our high dreams of the absolute best that could happen? What if things could happen in the world for where all people get loved and supported like big dreaming, you know, big dreaming doesn't have to be Pollyanna. Like it'll never happen, but like really feeling your heart connection to your greatest aspirations in faith. That's right there.
Simultaneous on the same day, Mars squares Saturn at 22 degrees of Taurus and Aquarius. I mentioned to you Saturn the responsible one, the grounded one, the structure maker let's make it happen. Okay. Now Saturn is an archetype can get really wounded. It can get into fear-based control. It can be the inner critic. It could be "shoulding" on yourself. You should, you should. You're not doing it right. And sometimes when we have Mars and Saturn in a strong cycle, what we get is getting off at external authority figures. Don't you tell me what to do. Okay. And then we blow all our energy off cuz we're fighting the external authority Saturn rather than having the courage, Mars, to embody our inner leader Saturn. And this is a really key point. I wanna challenge you on to watch for yourself at the end of the week. Are you busy putting your precious, intense yang energy, Mars and Taurus off at external authorities, whatever it is, people in your life, the government, the political parties. Sure. There's a lot to be angry about, but are you wasting your energy? Because you're giving all the power to those external authorities to make the changes Saturn inAquarius.
Are you saying, wait, wait, time out. I think it's time for me to do some adulting. I wanna take action. I'm off about something. I want to use my life. Energy better. Mars and Taurus. That means I gotta dial into my inner Saturn and say, right, I'm the one driving the car. Saturn's in Aquarius. If I was gonna do something innovative, if I was gonna have the courage to make some moves, to make it better for other people and the world and the animals and the climate, what would that look like? Do I blow away my energy being angry at all the external authorities and be victim, or do I wanna say stop that maybe I touch into that Venus- Neptune today and say, what's my biggest dream for my life in the world. What if my heart again, guided my rebel energy, my change agent energy.
And what if I loved my own inner authority Saturn and said right, roll up the sleeves. Let's get busy. Okay. We're talking about an inner part of you that loves you and honors you and wants you to get it, wants you to get what's really important and not to go under the spell of consumer colonial patriarchal dominator mindset that we've been saturated with that we keep co-creating and keep colluding with rather say, whoa, Lammas make the cut. It's time to harvest. It's time to cut down that which has served us and it's over and begin moving into the harvest time, gathering, gathering, gathering the resources and making the call. Okay. There's some good energy for you for deep transformation this week.
So here's a poem for you. It's called "The Friend" by Mark Nepo.
This week, my friends that friend is courting You, is asking you to stop and let go of what you don't need to hold onto, to stop and honor and embrace what really matters and listen to the ancient one in you. That's feeding your soul and guiding your soul and have the courage to make radical changes. Stop holding on to what you no longer have to hold onto, align with Lammas and make the cut.
