Hello, and welcome to the podcast for the week of July 18th. I'm your host and guide Sheila Bélanger. Here's some lines from the poem for this week. "I find the old wounds and lift them to my heart"-- powerfully strong emotional week, and also fiery abundance and opening up. It's all there. on Monday, July 18th, mercury is opposite Pluto at 27 degrees of cancer and Capricorn. The next day, the sun will also be opposite Pluto, sun, and cancer. So they're together. So mercury the storyteller, your mind, how you think about things, the narratives you carry and the sun, the hero- Heroine- conscious self, the purposeful self, both of these close together in cancer, a water sign of sensitivity and vulnerability and caring and wanting to belong. Wanting to have a hearth, a family in some form, whether it's blood family or chosen family. So there's these deep waters of emotional sensitivity at the beginning of the week.
And those two planets are opposite Pluto. The great transformer, the deity of the underworld, the one who calls us to our basement work lifts under the carpet and says, what's this deal with it. Also being in Capricorn right now, where it has been since 2008 Capricorn, a strong earth sign, very purposeful, very responsible. So here's what's happening is when cancer, when planets are in cancer and Capricorn in conversation with each other. It's this balance between soft, under belly, emotional vulnerability, sensitivity, and strong aligned leadership. Let's get it done. And you want 'em balanced because in the wounded side of cancer, we're needy and can't do anything for ourselves and are clinging and overwhelmed. For too much Capricorn in its wounded side, we are dominating and commanding and not really sensitive. Get the job done no matter what it's dominating energy. So this is the beginning of the week is can you be both?
Can you be sensitive to your own vulnerable, maybe even wounded side, young side or vulnerability in with loved ones, family or friends yet also stay the course with, okay, this is what we need to do. This is how we adult, this is how we get things going, particularly, cuz Pluto's at play here. Pluto is always asking us to transform the poisons of the old material. That's why we call it The basement work. What's the hidden festering emotional energy in this case because the planets are in cancer and saying, okay, roll up your sleeves and with heart and compassion. But with firmness, go clean it out.
It's also really powerful because it fits also with Tuesday, July 19th, the asteroid comet Chiron turns retrograde at 16 degrees of Aries. It will be retrograde seeming to appear to move backwards in its orbit until December 23rd, when it will go forward at 12 degrees of Aries, if you know how to work with the degree measurements in your chart use 'em and if you don't just listen to the archetypal story. Now, Chiron is in a tremendous archetype. It's called the wounded healer. I call it the shamanic one. The shapeshifter. it is an interesting Comet-Asteroid that shape shifts. It has a stable orbit in our solar system and it represents a messenger, an ambassador from the outer rim of the universe. Chiron and his orbit around the sun goes in between the orbits of Saturn and the orbits of Uranus. Now that's quite significant because Saturn is the structure maker planet. It's about the norm, how we do things, how we're responsible, how we settle things in and, and get things done.
Uranus in great contrast is the Maverick liberator awaken or change maker.Very destabilizing wants to wake us up from the status quo and Chiron in its orbit around the sun touches to both of those planetary orbits, Saturn and Uranus. So that's where it's a shapeshifter it says, Hey yes, the status quo, the norm stability is good until it's no longer. And then it has to be shaken up. Then it has to be blown up.
And what's really key here is Chiron is also called the wounded healer, which is an ancient archetype for the parts of us that as we lean in and metabolize our wounds, we find the medicine. We find the healing in them and we become a healing presence for others. It doesn't mean you have to fix or take care or rescue anyone. It means because you've done your own healing work. You are a healing presence for others who struggle with similar things, to what you struggle with.
And because Chiron has this connection with Saturn, the old, the established, the old ways of doing things and Uranus liberation change, Chiron also has to do with healing the wounds from the ancestors. So many of us struggle with something that the systemic family constellations people call "blind loyalty." It's when you're sensitive and empathetic and unconsciously, because you love your ancestors who've suffered, you take on their suffering out of "blind loyalty." You carry a wounded pattern or you carry a struggle. It could be relationships. It could be money. It could be self-esteem. It could be addictions. doesn't mean you don't have your own work to do. But with the concept of blind loyalty, there's an extra burden that you're carrying psycho-spiritually that's not your yours to carry. It really needs to be given back to the ancestors cuz whether they're alive or not, they have their own karma and their own necessity to deal with their own wounds.
So when Chiron is really active in astrology cycles, there is this call to lean in for deep healing. And particularly because when Chiron is going retrograde, it means that comet-asteroid is appearing to go backwards in its orbit. For four months, it's taking us inward, a retrograde cycle says, review, stop the ordinary, go and come inside and review and re-assess. So it's a profoundly deep healing week.
And you might find things are really up at the surface around old wounds. And because Chiron is in Aries, this is a fire sign of independence and doing your own thing and being true to yourself and taking risks. But Chiron in Aries speaks to the vulnerability many of us carry, it's like is it okay if I'm me and particularly in the situation we're in now, politically and culturally, you could get killed for being you.
Of course, there's deep wounds. You know, there's really deep heinous experiences happening in our country, in the United States, especially around being "other," being different and dare you be yourself. That's what Chiron in Aries asks as a healing journey. Can you be true to yourself? Can you trust your own fire? And can you heal the wounds where you've unconsciously run over people or been violent or impulsive because you're scared that you can't be yourself?
All of that gets tucked in o this energy of Chiron going retrograde this week. So have the courage to address lack of self confidence, and the rage and anger you feel because you're not being accepted. You're not being allowed to be you. Well, who's not allowing you to be? You gently look at that and ask that question. And also with respect and kindness and compassion, gently inquire are some of the patterns I wrestle with patterns my ancestors wrestled with? And am I in blind loyalty, caring too much of their karma? And in some generous and loving ceremonial way or prayerful way, can I give back to them that which is not mine to carry so I can focus just on what is mine to do? Consider this this week and notice what your heart tells you.
And then Friday, July 22nd, the sun enters Leo. The sun stays in one of the Zodiac signs for a month and this is a really different energy. The sun's been in cancer for almost the last month. Cancer's a beautiful tender, emotional water sign. Leo's a very dynamic fire sign. And it's about being true to your own creative voice being seen. Strutting your stuff, baby. Here I am. I'm gonna love myself and love you in a healthy way. A wounded Leo is very narcissistic and domineering, but hopefully what you're gonna be feeling is the positive Leo healthy Leo calling you. So notice where you might feel those tides turning at the end of the week, nothing wrong with cancer, but it's time to fire things up and trust your creativity and go forward and shine your gifts
On Sunday, July 24th, Venus squares Jupiter at nine degrees of cancer Aries. Now Venus is the lover, the beloved, the relational one. She that archetype. I think of it as feminine but use whatever gender is right for you. This one is traveling right now through cancer. Again, this tender water sign where you wear your heart on your sleeve. And when Venus is in cancer, she's kind of shy. He's kind of shy. They're kind of shy. It's like, I love you, but I'm afraid. I'm kind of shy to say everything I feel and I care about. And also I love you. I wanna nurture you and I wanna be nurtured. It's so such a sweet energy and there's some tension with another character, Jupiter who's in Aries. Again, this fire sign of dynamic independent. Let's just get on with it and go. Jupiter is the great big gas planet in our solar system. And it has to do with your wise one inside your teacher, mentor your expanded one. Jupiter, whenever it's at play, it can give you a lot of faith, give you a lot of energy of expansion, but also it's a big, hot air, hot gas planet.
And so the wounded side of Jupiter is where we get dogmatic and arrogant and on our soapbox. And we think we're a blow heart. We think we know so much better than anyone else. And right now with Jupiter in Aries, there can be, some selfishness, some like, well, my way's the right way. So that's some of the tension at the end of the week that we're all gonna be balancing. Again is our heart. And our relational self is very nurturing and caring and cancer. And yet some part of us is kind of chomping at the bit, cuz it wants to grow and expand Jupiter and learn and share our wisdom in a very fiery dynamic. Uh, do it my own way. So just notice that at the end of the week, they're both sacred and holy, it doesn't have to be either family and emotional nurturing or independence, I gotta do it my own way. It's looking at how they balance each other.
So this is the week that we get to travel with archetypally, the main points. There's many other things that are always happening astrologically, but I like to pinpoint the ones I think that are going to stir my people up the most. Cuz remember "you're not crazy, you're astrologically sensitive." So this is a story I can give you to help you understand that you're not crazy.
So here's a beautiful poem for this week about the profound journey of self healing. It's called "The Healing Time" by Pesha Gertler. It's a beautiful poem for this week where we have the sun and mercury opposite Pluto, a lot of emotional turmoil and turbulence and then Chiron going retrograde saying lean into the healing. And the sun going into Leo shining, my huge heart can hold it all.
So dear ones, bless your healing journey this week.
